How to Create Restrictions to Simplify Your Parkers' Experience (OpsMan Web)

Modified on Wed, 18 Jan 2023 at 12:52 PM

Overview

The restrictions feature, when enabled, prohibits new parking sessions for the selected zone(s)/space(s).

Here are some examples of when you may want to use a restriction:

  • If there is active construction in a zone, you can restrict people from starting a parking session
  • If you want the zone to be free of charge for a set time, you can restrict people from paying for parking
  • If it’s a holiday and you want to give free parking

Note: On new restrictions, you need to hit save once to see the time slots section. This is not reflected in the article.

Instructions

  1. In OpsMan, navigate to the Setup > Restriction Setup tab.
  2. Select Create New Restriction.
  3. Complete the following fields:
    • Restriction Name. The internal name for this restriction. Your parkers will not see this text.
      • Example: Construction
    • Restriction Type. Not visible to the parker. Use this field for organization within OpsMan.
    • Title. The external name for this restriction. This is displayed as the title when the restriction is shown to the end user.
      • Example: No Parking – Construction Zone.
    • Message. The message displayed in the restriction when it is shown to the end user.
      • Example: This lot is closed due to construction.
    • One Time Slots. Active for a specific date range.
      • NoteWhen you create a new restriction, you need to select Save once to display the time slots section.
    • Recurring Slots. Active on a recurring schedule.
      • Example: Weekly from Sunday – Tuesday.
  4. Choose to apply to Zones or Spaces.
    • Zones. Select one or multiple zones and drag over using the right arrow from the Available zones to Active zones in order to apply this restriction to a certain zone(s). Note: do NOT apply to both zone and spaces, or it will not work. You must select only one. If you’d like to apply to a full zone, drag the zone over. If you’d like to apply to a few spaces, select the zone in the drop-down within the Spaces section and pull over the spaces.
    • Spaces. Select one or multiple spaces and drag over using the right arrow from the Available spaces to Active spaces in order to apply this restriction to certain space(s). Note: do NOT apply to both zone and spaces, or it will not work. You must select only one. If you’d like to apply to a full zone, drag the zone over. If you’d like to apply to a few spaces, select the zone in the drop-down within the Spaces section and pull over the spaces.
